History Style Guide
This project started in a History of Design class, in which we were tasked with creating a book featuring each significant era in Design History. I thought it would be cool to turn this into a style guide that would function as a desktop tool. So, this is a selfish project, but I think it's important to make things for yourself.
Cycles
I'm fascinated by the iterative cycles of Design trends, so I wanted to create a tool that would remind me of the past and help arrive at solutions in the present.
Composure
Each Design era gets a fake logo & company that either relates to design, or society as a whole at that time. They also get Typography, Color, and Style suggestions, In each of these chapters is a little blurb about the era. However, they are admittedly a little snarky. I often try to add some humor to my work, but I'm afraid these written sections betray my sincere love of the historical legacy of Design.
Conclusions
Overall I'm pleased, especially with the binding. This was my first time binding anything. I love physical pieces, so I was happy to take a design from the digital into the real world. Since I put this together I find myself trying to find other things to bind into a book.
Thanks for watching! As always, comments and appreciations make me feel fuzzy inside.
